I am a Christian wife and mother of five amazing daughters with the best husband a girl could ever ask for. We live in Bolton, Massachusetts, and we homeschool our children. I love snowboarding, camping, travelling, DIY home improvement projects, and writing. That’s my present, but you won’t truly understand me unless you know a little about my past.
At the age of 20, I married the love of my life, Timothy King. God doesn’t promise that life will be easy, just that He will be with us when we go through hard times. Here are just a few of the trials that He has held our hands through.
- The day after I turned 21, we found out that I was unexpectedly pregnant.
- I gave up my schooling and career to come home and be a stay-at-home mama.
- By the time I was 22, Tim had joined the Air Force, and we were promptly stationed up in Alaska, 4,500 miles away from our family in New England.
- Tim was frequently sent away for work, including 3 deployments to the Middle East, and I was left to manage the home front by myself. We once added up the time he was gone for-it was more than 2 1/2 years over a 7 year time-frame.
- When my oldest daughter was in the 4th grade, she came home from school in tears for weeks on end. I realized that she desperately needed to be homeschooled, so I pulled her out of school. I was seven months pregnant with our 4th daughter at the time.
- We also suffered through miscarriages on 3 separate occasions.
- If those trials weren’t enough, at the age of 65, my healthy, vibrant, loving, father found out that he had metastatic melanoma. He died 9 months later.
Through all of these hard times, we consistently did two things: Turned to God and the Bible for wisdom, and asked godly people like our parents for advice. It’s this wisdom and advice that I hope to be able to pass on to all of you. Any wisdom that I possess is God-given and forged through hard times. After all, how would I know how to comfort others if I had never suffered myself? Sometimes it’s the hard knocks of life that are the best teachers.
